Ascot Vale

Ascot Vale is a residential suburb in the state of Victoria, located about seven kilometres north-west of Melbourne, the state capital. Because of its association with the horse racing industry, the community is believed to have been named after the Ascot Racecourse, a famous English racecourse in Ascot, Berkshire. The suburb's estimated population of 12,398 residents occupies a land area of 3.8 square kilometres, thus making it one of Victoria's more densely populated areas.

Part of the Local Government Area of the City of Moonee Valley, Ascot Vale is within the State District of Essendon (in the Victorian Legislative Assembly), as well as the Federal Division of Melbourne (in the Australian House of Representatives). It is surrounded by the suburbs of Brunswick West, Flemington, Maribyrnong, Moonee Ponds, and Travancore.

Since it features prominently in Ascot Vale's suburban culture, the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds is a very important landmark within the community. It hosts the Royal Melbourne Show, an annual event that draws locals and visitors alike year after year since it started.

Whether it is hanging out with friends, having family picnics, or taking leisurely walks, residents of Ascot Vale can regularly take time out from their domestic routines by simply visiting the parks within the area. The easily accessible locales are Fairbain Park, Victoria Park, and Walter Street Reserve.
